Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, the “standalone expansion pack” for Far Cry 3 has topped half a million copies sold just two months after its April release.

Released digitally on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, Blood Dragon is a gloriously ludicrous 80’s sci-fi, retro-themed shooter which takes the open-world framework of its parent title and liberally sprinkles it with visual gags, wisecracks and monsters that shoot lasers out of their eyes.

Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, said he was “very happy” with Blood Dragon’s sales and has prompted him to look at “other brand extensions” for other games in the Ubisoft IP stable.

As for Blood Dragon itself, we liked it a whole bunch when we reviewed it earlier this year.
