In keeping up with their trend of announcing returning veterans to the Super Smash Bros. world alongside new game releases, Nintendo has revealed Diddy Kong as the next Brawl alumni to join the Wii U/3DS cast list. This, of course, happens the same day that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze makes its debut on the latest Nintendo home console. Surprised? No, neither are we.
After the announcements came of Dixie and Cranky Kongs becoming playable allies in Tropical Freeze, I’m sure I am not the only one who hoped to see the former find her way into the rumble. That said, it is still very possible. There is actually incomplete Dixie Kong data in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which Sakurai once addressed with the explanation that she was intended to be a character alongside Diddy, not dissimilar to the Ice Climbers pair. Well she’s back in a real game, and I’m sure the development team could come up with more uses for her hair than just flight and whipping. Let’s see it happen!
Now then, back to the subject at hand. Diddy Kong, welcome back to the fight!
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS is scheduled to release sometime in 2014.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is currently available both physically and via the Nintendo Wii U eShop.
