Lo-fi sci-fi. That’s the aim of the team behind Alien: Isolation, attempting to recreate the atmosphere of the original Ridley Scott hit from 1979.

“Chunky, analog, push-button technology” was the feeling behind Alien all those years ago, and the brains at The Creative Assembly managed in spades. Not only did they intricately recreate the low-tech feeling behind it, they took it all a step further and recorded several video effects and sounds onto VHS and played them back through a CRT television for maximum authenticity.

Alien: Isolation is out on October 7th, 2014 on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
