This week, on a very special episode of The SML Podcast, Joe and Kris open up their hearts to you, the audience, and tell their bravest stories of struggling with being inappropriately touched by special guest Jeff Ball.
Nahhhh, I’m just messing with you. I mean, video game composer Jeff Ball IS, in fact, the guest of honor this week, but he certainly didn’t touch Joe or Kris inappropriately. Well not without their permission, anyway. As is brilliantly stated on Jeff’s BandCamp page, he “is a composer and violinist for video games. You may have heard his violin playing while having sex in Mass Effect 3.” Awwww yeahhhh. It doesn’t get much better than that.
So really, they don’t talk much about Jeff’s music or his process for composing or any of that technical mumbo jumbo. Instead they just have a delightful chat with the dude for close to two hours about a variety of topics including, but not limited to, Weird Al, the infamous potato salad Kickstarter, and lots of other not-video-games stuff. Which makes sense, obviously. I mean, it’s not like we should EXPECT them to talk about video games on their video game podcast, right? If only there were someone out there, some courageous soul willing to take some precious time out of their life to e-mail these guys with some video game-related chatter that they could discuss.
OH WAIT, I DID JUST THAT. Yes, if Jeff Ball and his sexy violinist ways don’t interest you, surely you will be delighted to learn that this week features another long-awaited segment of “STUPID LONG E-MAILS FROM ZAK” wherein I write in about the the women of Super Smash Bros., what games I’m currently playing, and much, much more! Ahh, episodes with me in them are always the best episodes.
Now seeing that the guest is a musician, the musical selection this week all come from the Jeff Ball vault. It’s some excellent listening, so check it out.
Jeff Ball – “Cliffside Morning Wood” (Tiny Barbarian DX)
Jeff Ball – “Rough and Tumble” (Shovel Knight)
mv feat. Jeff Ball – “De Nuit” (Final Fantasy VI)
