You’ve got your Kirby and you’ve got your Dedede, and now Nintendo has officially announced that Meta Knight, who made his first Smash appearance in the Wii‘s Super Smash Bros. Brawl, will be returning to the fray later this year.

While fans have been extremely vocal in the past about Meta Knight being a bit overpowered when compared to pretty much everyone else on the roster, I feel they should be able to breathe a bit easier. Sakurai has noted multiple times during the production of the Wii U and 3DS games that the team has taken special care to make sure each and every character is as balanced and fair as they can be. We won’t know for sure until we’ve tried the game for ourselves, but do try to have a little faith.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS launches on October 3, while Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is still slated tentatively for “Holiday 2014″ (though there are some rumors swirling about that…).
