I’ve been loving Hyrule Warriors for weeks now (even moreso than Jesse), and play it whenever I have any extra time to spare at home, occasionally even bringing the Game Pad to bed to play before going to sleep.

Likewise I am incredibly eager to get my hands on some amiibo figures, with Link being my number 1 first choice must-have. It makes me quite elated to say that Nintendo of America announced today via Twitter that the Link amiibo will be compatible with Hyrule Warriors in the future.

There are no details yet regarding how the amiibo will function with the hack-and-slash title, or whether more figures such as Princess Zelda or the inevitable Ganondorf will also be compatible. I suspect they will, and we’ll likely receive the amiibo integration with January’s Majora’s Mask DLC or February’s Boss Pack DLC. Either way, it looks like Nintendo plans to keep Hyrule Warriors relevant for a good long while, and I couldn’t be happier for that.

Link will be among Wave 1 of amiibos, launching November 21 in North America, and November 29 in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
