Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will now release in Spring next year, instead of at the end of 2015 as previously announced.

The confirmation comes from a post made on the Official PlayStation Blog by Uncharted directors Bruce Starley and Neil Druckmann.

“After spending so many years with Nathan Drake, he means a lot to the team, and telling the climactic chapter of his adventures is a task we don’t take lightly – this game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for.” the post reads, before going onto say “So we’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title.”

Well, that frees up the end of the year a bit doesn’t it?

In case you missed it before, check out the first gameplay footage for the game that was shown at the PlayStation Experience late last year.

  1. This is unfortunate, but a necessary delay in order to polish the game. And from what Neil has said in his statement, it seems like this may be the “final” chapter in Nathan Drake’s story — although this doesn’t mean we’ll be seeing the last of him.
