Seems like nothing can be kept under wraps in the AAA gaming industry. According to information found on a Russian website (because, you know, where else) the next installment in the Deus Ex series will be called Mankind Divided, and it will launch on PC and current-gen consoles.

In Mankind Divided, we will once again control Adam Jensen, protagonist of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Jensen has gone through a few upgrades, now having access to new augmentations and weapons. Like its predecessor, Mankind Divided will be a First-Person Shooter with Third-Person cover mechanics, sprinkled with Role-Playing Game elements and a focus on stealth and exploration.

One of the leaked screenshots shows off a new weapon-customization system, which seems to offer a wide variety fo options and combinations (and also looks a tad like the system in the Crysis games).

Meanwhile, The cover and 12 page report in the may issue of the Gameinformer magazine confirmed the leaked info.

In Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Adam Jensen returns two years after the events of the previous game, and joins forces with a specialized Task Force funded by Interpol charged with the pursuit and apprehension of augmented terrorists, operating a world which has grown to hate and fear transhumans.

As the previous game already relied heavily on the ideological conflict between the augmented and non-augmented for its story, and discrimination was a major theme. You can imagine what the world would be like for augmented individuals after the conclusion of Human Revolution. These, and other themes will likely return in this entry of the Deus Ex series, and it will give the developers a chance to flesh out some of their ideas a bit more.

Another thing Eidos Montreal wants to do with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is implement some of the refinements they have made on Human Revolution’s combat mechanics and overall gameplay. Though we got a taste of these changes in the Director’s Cut, the gameplay improvements will truly shine in the sequel (hopefully they’ll get the boss-fights right the first time).

More info (and possibly a trailer) about Mankind Divided will surface in the coming days.
