The wait for the Phantom Dust reboot could be even longer than it has been already. Microsoft’s Xbox marketing chief Aaron Greenberg told Gamertag Radio that while the company’s planned reboot is not cancelled, it is also not currently in “active development” as the project has no assigned developer.

“We’re currently exploring what we’re going to do longer-term with Phantom Dust”, Greenberg stated. Phantom Dust was announced for Xbox One during Microsoft’s annual press conference at E3 2014. In February Kotaku reported that the project’s previous developer Darkside Games ceased operations. The original Phantom Dust was a cult-classic released for the original Xbox in September 2004 in Japan and March 2005 in the US.
