Square-Enix has today confirmed that Rise of the Tomb Raider will arrive on PC and PlayStation 4 platforms next year.

When the game was announced originally as an Xbox One exclusive, the language that was used by Square-Enix was murky at best when the publisher was confronted with questions about the title making its way to other platforms.

Well, now we know for sure what the deal is.

Due to the partnership with Microsoft, Rise of the Tomb Raider will release on PC in early 2016 but because that partnership ensures Xbox One console exclusivity for one whole year, PlayStation 4 owners won’t be able to experience Lara’s next adventure until Holiday 2016.

On the flip side though, given the twelve months of post-launch time in the interim, it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see the PlayStation 4 version of the game end up as some sort of Game of the Year edition; generously stuffed with all the DLC that will inevitably be released after release.
