Mike Bithell, the creator of the wonderfully offbeat indie hit Thomas Was Alone, has today lifted the curtain on his latest game.  Its called ‘Volume‘ and Bithell cites Minecraft and Metal Gear Solid as his inspirations for the game.

A stealth title where the premise of the game is for the player to avoid guards whilst half-inching items, Volume takes its cue from Mojang‘s monstrously successful game by allowing a substantial amount of user based creation; enabling players to leverage in-game tools to create all new levels or expand existing ones, with the results being able to be shared throughout the community.

Apparently spending the better part of the last seven months beavering away on the title, Volume will be ready for prime-time in late 2014, with no platforms currently confirmed.

As it stands though, I would imagine PC/Mac is a sure bet and if one of his previous tweets are anything to go by, it seems that just like Thomas Was Alone before it, Volume could find a home on Sony platforms too.

The next time we’re scheduled to hear anything more on the game will be at the Eurogamer Expo next month and then later on at the Gamecity convention in October.

Before then though, feast your eyes on the debut trailer below:
